NIT Semifinals: Colorado vs. Alabama

The late game in the NIT semifinals on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden in New York has Alabama taking on Colorado in a contest that can be seen on ESPN 2. It is a matchup of two teams that just missed getting into the NCAA Tournament. Each team was seeded first in their region in the NIT and both took advantage of playing at home to reach the semifinals.

Alabama has had no trouble at all in winning their three games in the NIT. The Crimson Tide had a huge edge playing at home and defeated Coastal Carolina, New Mexico and Miami of Florida. That success didn’t carry over to the road or to neutral sites so that is a big concern for the Crimson Tide in this game since it is being played in New York. Colorado has also taken advantage of the NIT giving them three home games as they defeated Texas Southern, California and Kent State. While Alabama wins with defense, Colorado wins with offense. They average just over 80 points per game which is 11th best in the country. The Buffaloes probably have the best player in this game in Alec Burks who is averaging 20.5 points per game.

Tuesday’s game is a matchup of Colorado’s offense against Alabama’s defense. Both teams were great at home this season and rotten on the road so whichever team handles the atmosphere of Madison Square Garden should come out on top.
