World Series Odds

With the baseball regular season winding down not much has changed atop the World Series futures at 5Dimes where the Philadelphia Phillies are still the favorites to win the Fall Classic.

How could the Phillies not be heavy World Series favorites at +175. Not only do they have the best record in all of baseball but they have arguably the strongest rotation in baseball as well led by former Cy Young winners Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee and former World Series MVP Cole Hamels. If the Phillies get at least some runs from the big bats of Ryan Howard and Chase Utley they could easily win another title.

Following the Phillies on the 5Dimes MLB futures are the Yankees at +400. New York may not boast the strong rotation that Phillies have but they do have a very strong bullpen anchored by Mariano Rivera and plenty of clout in their lineup. Even the best pitchers would have to dread facing Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez, Robinson Cano and Derek Jeter. New York is going to need these bats to be strong in the postseason because their rotation quickly declines behind ace CC Sabathia.

Rounding out the Top 3 at 5Dimes are the Boston Red Sox, but their odds aren't as good as they used to be at +700. The Red Sox recent slump has caused their odds to drop dramatically and they could possibly miss the playoffs if they can't hold off the Rays in the Wild Card race. Boston, like the Yankees has a very dangerous lineup led by MVP candidates Adrian Gonzalez and Jacoby Ellsbury, but their pitching is questionable behind Josh Beckett and Jon Lester.

The best value for bettors at 5Dimes right now could be the Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee could give the Phillies a run for their money in the NL behind what is a formidable front end to their rotation with Zack Greinke, Yovani Gallardo and Shaun Marcum. Add in Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder and is definitely worth taking a risk on at +875.
