Kentucky Leads College Basketball Futures
The Kentucky Wildcats lengthy winning streak has catapulted them up the latest college basketball futures, landing them the top spot at TopBet.com.
The Wildcats have reeled off 17 wins in a row and are comfortable NCAA championship favorites on the TopBet futures at +200. Led by the dynamic duo of Anthony Davis and Doron Lamb the Wildcats have dominated the SEC so far this season. If they can continue that dominated into March and the tournament they could be unstoppable in the Big Dance. The only thing that might stop the Wildcats is inexperience, as three of their five regular starters are freshmen.
Following the Wildcats on the latest futures is Ohio State at +500, Missouri at +600 and Syracuse and Kansas, both at +800.
The Buckeyes remain at No. 2 on the list despite recently falling to No. 6 in the rankings following an upset loss to Michigan State. Buckeyes' leaders Jared Sullinger and William Buford both struggled in the loss and if they have a bad game during the tournament it could be a short run for Ohio State.
The Missouri Tigers have been one of the bigger surprises in college basketball this season. It's not that people didn't think they would be good, but no one thought they would be this good. The Tigers were barely ranked at No. 25 to start the season, but have climbed as high as No. 2, while currently sitting in the No. 3 slot. With only two losses on the season and sporting wins over the likes of Baylor and Kansas the Tigers could continue to make some real noise in March.
Then there's Syracuse and Kansas. The Orange have spent a large chunk of the season atop the rankings, but currently reside at No. 2 with a 26-1 record. One thing either going for or against the Orange depending on your point of view is playing in a somewhat weak Big East this season. The Orange have done well against the other beasts of the East like Louisville and Georgetown, but can they continue to dominate in the tournament against the best the other conferences have to offer?
The Jayhawks have recently climbed up to No. 4 in the rankings despite a 4-2 record in their last six games. Kansas has looked better since conference play began but they still have early losses to Kentucky and Duke on their record. They've also recently dropped games to Missouri and Iowa State. If Kansas continues to have trouble with the elite they could be in for a short ride in March.
